| Description | This course studies the history and development of materials science, the chemical properties of materials including material reactivity; physical properties of materials which include density, strength, hardness, elasticity, plasticity of a material; thermal properties of materials which include atomic vibrations related to temperature, heat capacity, thermal expansion, thermal conductivity of a material; electrical properties of materials which include: electron mobility, conductivity (conductors, insulators and semiconductors) of a material; optical properties of materials which include transmission and absorption of light by a material, luminescence (fluorescence and phosphorescence) of a material; magnetic properties of materials which include magnetic dipole, magnetic permeability, magnetic moment, magnetic classification (diamagnetic, paramagnetic, ferromagnetic, anti-ferromagnetic and ferrimagnetic) of a material |
